Okemah yesterday, Hefner today

Went to Okemah yesterday, turned out good. Biggest fish was 4.5 and had a few that were 3'ish also, caught a few around the 2 mark. Would have been a good stringer for a tourny.

Today, went to Hefner, it was a little rough, front came in and wind changed to the North. We didn't pick up anything other than a couple of bluegill.

Rough day yesterday

Day started out like any normal day, went to Hefner in the morning and didn't do any good, I wasn't there for long when Anthony called and we decided to go to Bell Cow. Got to Bell Cow and had a flat on one of the trailer tires, we fished for a while and didn't do any good, the lake looked a few feet low. After having to buy a new tire we decided to head to Thunderbird since the wind was low and we didn't have anything else to do. We got to Thunderbird and it was tough, sat on a brush pile for a little while and caught several small crappie then decided to go look around for sandies, didn't see anything worth while. At the end of the day we started bass fishing and picked up a few small ones and one that was 16" long, not a bad fish, but for a day of 3 lakes and lots of traveling it was not a good day at all.

Hefner this morning

Went to Hefner this morning just after daylight. Wind was calm and it was clear out. Trolled along the dam for a bit but didn't turn anything up. Anthony caught a big bluegill on a topwater and a small bass on a rattletrap. I fished around the lighthouse point and didn't turn up anything there either.

I talked with a guy, Tom, at the boat ramp he was loading out the same time I was, he said Chickasha lake has been good for sandies lately, I may try that out since I haven't fished that lake.

Hefner today

Spent the middle of the day on Hefner today, didn't do very good today, there was no wind and we were trying to fish the dam for smallmouth but these small knats were everywhere. Normally this wouldn't bother me but there were millions of them and they were getting in our eyes, ears, inside your shirt everything. Was very annoying.

Anthony caught a small bass and I mean no longer than his lure small. I caught one small crappie on a small spinnerbait. Maybe next time.

More Okemah goodness

Went to Okemah yesterday and did pretty well, especially since we got there right after a tournament ended and they had a big tournament the day before. We were able to catch several small ones, had one that was 2.5 lbs, one 3 lbs, and one 5 lbs. Turned out to be a good day.

I'm still here

I've been neglecting making posts lately and I'm making an effort to be more active with posting.

Thursday I went fishing with Dad on Oolagah lake and it was tough, we tried Bass, Sandbass, and Crappie. The lake appears to be turning over, the water level was 3ft high and falling and the water temps are cooling now that fall is taking hold. Not exactly the best conditions however, we were able to pull some very nice slab crappie out of some brush piles. Oolagah is full of monster crappie. We fished from about noon until around 5:30. We had to work for the fish we caught but ended up with 1 sandbass and about 5 big crappie.

Friday we went back to Oolagah at the crack of dawn and attempted Bass, Sandbass, and Crappie again. This time we were not able to turn up anything worth keeping. We were not even able to get a Bass to strike. Trolled for Sandbass to no avail and hit the brush piles again but only turned up a few small crappie.

No hope for Hefner

Haven't been updating lately, been spending a lot of time fishing on Okemah lake and I don't get home until late. Okemah is by far the best Bass lake I've been fishing, always produces and has turned out some good ones.

Went to Lake Hefner the other day and again today, caught a 16" bass off the dam the other day and today didn't produce anything. Did see the sandies surface but could not get them to hit anything. Once again Hefner didn't produce. If the lake wasn't so close I would have written it off a long time ago but since it's so close I guess I'll continue to get punished by it.
