Okemah Saturday

Was a tough day Saturday, fished from about 4pm to 8:30pm and only turned up 2 small fish. I have declared Okemah a weekday only lake. The traffic on the lake was horrible. This isn't fishing related but to top off the trip I had a near death experience with a semi on I-44 in the middle of town. Locking up the brakes swerving and taking out the traffic cones to keep from plowing into the back of the semi. So needless to say I'm going to be taking a break from Okemah.

Okemah again

Yesterday,
Greg and I made another trip to Okemah. Turned out to be a really good day. Weather was clear and warm with a variable wind 5-10. Water temp was 75.

Greg had the big fish of the day at 4.5 lbs and he had another at 3 lbs. There were a couple small ones after that.

My big fish of the day was 4lbs and my next one was 3.5 lbs. I also had several small ones to go with those.

We tried to keep track of our total weight for the day and came up with 21.5 lbs for the day.

Tecumseh Lake

Went to Tecumseh lake yesterday to check out Greg's boat and make sure everything was working as should be. It turned out to be a good trip in that there were no events with the boat and everything worked as expected. The water temp was 80 and very very muddy. Tecumseh lake is very shallow and we didn't expect to really catch anything. I ended up catching 2 small crappie and that was it.

Okemah Yesterday

Went to Okemah again. Caught several small fish in the 1-3 lb range. Water temp was 75, clear and sunny air temp in the mid to high 80's. Had about 6 fish total. Pic is Greg with biggest fish of the day. Most of the fish were on a white/char spinnerbait. One on the black/silver shad rap. Just on the outside edges of the grass on the point across from the boat ramp. Fished the cove where the "big'uns" came from but no luck in there yesterday.

Okemah yesterday

Second trip to Okemah this year. First one was around the 1st week of January and was cold windy and didn't produce a single fish. Luckily yesterday was different. We were on the lake about noon and stayed until dark. I ended up catching 5 small bass and one channel catfish. Greg hung a nice fish that jumped and threw his lure, I would guess he was in the 6-7# range. Overall it was a good day, clear skies, mid 80's, water temp was 70.1.

Been negleting the blog

I've been neglecting my blog lately and not updating with recent fishing trips. So here is the scoop. Last week I went with a friend on Thunderbird and was able to table 20 crappies. Had 6 that were in the 1 to 1.5 lb range. Yesterday we went back and were only able to table 4. They were a lot smaller this last trip but they were still in the same spot. They were in 8ft and could not figure out why they were in that spot, there was no structure or any reason we could see for them to be there but they were. We also caught a couple small sand bass but that was about it. Did a little Bass fishing but didn't turn up anything.

Today, this morning, went to Hefner to see if we could catch something and ended up with one small sand bass and one small walleye before the wind changed to the north at about 20-30 mph.
