Okemah again

Went to Okemah again yesterday and once again in produced some fish. One fish was in the 3lbs range but didn't get it landed, threw the lure right at the boat. The others were all smaller fish in the 14" range.

Okemah has a slot limit which is why it's been such a good producer. Anything between 15" and 22" has to be released.

Okemah produces

Went to Okemah yesterday evening. Didn't have a lot of time to fish but it did produce 2 fish. One 3 1/4 and one 3 1/2. Had a few others hit but didn't get a hook in them.

Hefner finally gives me a little hope

Finally caught a nice fish out of Lake Hefner. It was the only fish of the day but it was a nice relief from getting nothing of any notability from this lake ever. Was a 3-3.5 lbs bass, hit real light on a plastic.

Speaking of plastics, be prepared to lose a lot of them when fishing the rip rap at Lake Hefner.

Skunked again by Lake Hefner

Got on the lake today at about 2pm and stayed until I saw lightning to the south. We are supposed to have some nasty storms for the next few days. I didn't catch a thing, I also went out on the lake yesterday from about 3pm until dark and didn't catch anything. Lake Hefner has turned out to be a huge challenge for me. I've heard so many good things about the lake regarding Walleye, Crappie, and Smallmouth Bass but I have yet to have a good day on Lake Hefner.

Thuderbird on a Saturday

Fishing lake Thunderbird on a weekend is a big mistake. That lake had so many boats on it the lake was sloshing like a bathtub. The 15+ mph south wind wasn't any help either. So, Thunderbird has officially been declared a weekday only lake in my book.

Despite the terrible condition we were able to pick up several small sandbass, a small saugeye, a 6 lbs. drum, and a channel cat about 1.5-2 lbs. No bass on that trip.

Finally a good day

Nothing big today but it was a nice day regardless. We took another trip to Thunderbird and were able to catch several small sandbass, one keeper saugeye, and a couple small bass. Also pulled a few small crappie out of a couple brush piles.

So far I've been very impressed with Thunderbird, it has been a producer of both quantity and quality.

Happy B-day to me

Well today is my birthday and the boat is in commission so I decided I was going to spend the entire day fishing even if it killed me. In the morning I went to Lake Hefner and marked a lot of fish on the locater at about 15-20ft. I dropped a marker buoy and tried to get one on a spoon. Caught a fish but it was on my new rod and reel so I didn't have the drag set and he got off, have no idea what he was, I'm thinking it was a small walleye.

Came home at around noon and got something to eat then Anthony and I decided we were going to try out Lake Thunderbird since neither of us had been there. He had his daughter for the day so we took her along. Fished until almost dark and caught 2 fish. I had a small one that was maybe a pound then things went dry for a while and Anthony hooked a really nice fish, weighed just over 4 3/4 lbs. Nice one! Overall it was a good birthday, wish we could have caught more but it was good regardless.

Hefner at the crack of dawn

Hit Hefner lake this morning at the crack of dawn. Didn't land anything but did hook into a small bass for a minute. Had a wiring issue and had to come back to the ramp and work on it. Took about an hour to get things going again, of course, it was during the best part of the day but got to go nonetheless. Stayed out as long as we could stand it, the 100+ degree heat sure makes it tough.

Back in business

Got a new trolling motor and mounted it on the boat this morning, however, the 106 degree heat kept me off the lake and it looks like there isn't going to be any relief until late in the week. Hopefully I'll get a chance to hit the water and catch some fish.

Went with my father last Friday to an undisclosed location looking for sandbass but no luck, they just were not doing their thing. We were able to catch several bass on topwaters though, had 3 of them that were over 2lbs and a ton of little ones. It was a lot of fun but man it was hot.
